Teacher, como se diz "dar uma bronca" em inglês?

Hi there! How r you doing?

I hope everything's ok!

A expressão é:

TO GIVE SB A DRESSING-DOWN = DAR UMA BRONCA, PEGAR PESADO, PRINCIPALMENTE POR TER FEITO ALGO ERRADO!!

Veja a definição em inglês:

CAMBRIDGE DICTIONARY: an act of speaking angrily to someone because they have done something wrong.

Example:

She gave me a dressing-down for getting there late.

Ela me deu uma bronca por chegar lá atrasado.

Há a possibilidade também de usar uma
expressão bem semelhante que é:

TO DRESS SOMEONE DOWN = DAR UM BRONCA, PEGAR PESADO....

I am late. My parents will dress me down when I get home.

Tô atrasado. Meus pais vão me dar uma bronca quando eu
chegar em casa.

The boss dressed down the secretary for mistyping the letter.

O chefe pegou pesado com a secretária por ter cometido
um erro de digitação na carta.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?
PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH ANSWERING THESE QUESTIONS IN THE "COMENTÁRIOS". THEY WILL BE CORRECTED AND POSTED HERE!!

When was the last time you were dressed down?

Have you ever been given a dressing-down in public?

That's all for today!

Take care!

Hey, I've already heard another way of expressing "dar um bronca". AFAIK, "To tell off" also stands for the same thing, e.g. 'The teacher told me off yesterday due to my arriving late.'...=D

    1. You can say:

to be dressed down or to get dressed down.

      For example....

I was dressed down in front of everybody!

  5. I didn't understand if we have to write in English or not... lol... Anyway, I just would like to say I loved your blog. I have been studying English since a child and I am fond of languages. I was looking for this expression and that's how I found you. Great job!
